Welcome to the homepage of the "Meteorology and Geophysics" Department. In case you choose our department you will study our common home, the planet Earth, a complicated system of interacting components and interesting processes. Our understanding of the Earth's health and maintaining the cleanness affects the general direction of human evolution. The need of meteorologists and geophysicist will always be admitted and in the near future will increase constantly. There are many possibilities for professional realization, both for the students with purely theoretical manner of thinking and for those, who are attracted by the practical application of their knowledge.
The lecturers in the department are highly qualified specialists, all of them having a PhD degree. We teach in BSc. program "Astrophysics, Meteorology, and Geophysics" and in the MSc. programs "Meteorology", "Geophysics" and "Physics of Earth, Atmosphere and Ocean". Read more »
At present, the level of the research work at the department is high, as seen by our publications in peer reviewed journals and the participation in the national and international conferences. The department works jointly with Bulgarian and foreign researchers under the programs of the European Union and with scientists from the USA, Germany, France and Italy. Read more »
Nowadays, we have been paying special attention to the publicity of the Earth sciences so that we can gather a wider audience. We participate in school demonstrations, science festivals, open doors and other similar events. Read more »
